SKF GE..C Series Spherical Plain Bearings: This series is classed as maintenance free radial spherical plain bearings. Comprising of sliding contact surfaces of steel against PTFE / sintered bronze these spherical plain bearings are unsealed and self lubricating but will require protection from external contaminants. The C design consists of a steel backing with PTFE sintered bronze layer pressed around the inner ring, with a butt joint. Application: Suitable for heavy, constant direction loads, where low friction is required; limited suitability for alternating loads, shock loads. A characteristic of SKF steel / PTFE / sintered bronze spherical plain bearings is the intentionally fractured outer ring enabling it to be sprung apart to insert the ball, thus care needs to be taken when mounting spherical plain bearings with a fractured or split outer ring, it is essential that the joint is positioned at 90 degrees to the direction of load. Occasional re-lubrication can be beneficial to the service life of this component. Benefits: Re-lubricate-able, cleanable. |
