NAK TL FKM Oil Seals: Oil seals are used in a variety of different applications in which a rotating shaft is lubricated by oil or grease. They are engineered to facilitate the smooth operation of your equipment, serving as a barrier to prevent the leakage of oils and greases while also keeping foreign substances from entering. TL type seals are commonly used oil seals, particularly in larger shaft sizes or when a smaller shaft requires extra strength. This is due to the metal-cased outside diameter which has a very stable construction and offers a better-protected sealing member in comparison to the open-backed style. The TL type has a special design of a metal outside diameter with a leading edge to assist in the alignment during installation and replacement. This oil seal features a sealing FKM rubber lip on the inside diameter as well as an external dust lip. The TL type features a garter spring which allows some give to prevent a build-up of friction. (Seals under 5mm width may not always feature a spring.)
